Tonight, Hospitality Suite opens at the 35Below theater (behind the Asheville Community Theatre). The controversy surrounding the play, brings the issue of evolving spirituality and religious desegregation. That might sound like a lot of hot air, but the characters of this Mamet-like play touches upon the very essence of all crisis in every corner of the world. I produced and now present this play as an opportunity to induce a forum in this highly digitized society about the most ancient of questions and the most necessary musings for our future.
Starring Dan Clancy, Mike Vaniman and Desmond Zampella, this twingravity production was ultimately to test and refine my means of bringing out very difficult performances from a very challenging script on all counts. The performances from all three cast members are sharp with truth and tinge like the first alcohol dab on wounded skin.
The wounds these three men face are ones that touch upon the very essences of our humanity, spirituality and society.
There will be cussing and many other challenging perspectives to face but with this rockstar cast, it has been both a joy, honor and a delicious challenge; but for all the right reasons.
